Fender Custom Shop "Mod D" 1959 Telecaster Custom Journeyman Relic Rosewood Texas Tea Electric Guitar With Case
Old School Meets New School
At the end of 2019, Fender introduced a new series of instruments called the American Ultra. As much as we don't like to use the word, in some ways it was a "gamechanger". Not just because of the amazing new colors, or the body contours, pickups and other features - while all of that was spectacular, what really stood out was the neck. Fender introduced the all new Ultra Modern D neck shape. Slim and super fast like the Modern C that has been a favorite for years, the Modern D added a bit of thickness to allow for a better grip. This proved to be a huge hit, as guitarists worldwide gave praise to the American Ultra guitars due to the feel of this neck.
Surprisingly, no one (that we know of) had done a run Fender Custom Shop guitars with this neck shape - until now. Truetone Music is proud to present the 1959 "Ultra D" collection. It's a series of vintage-styled Strats and Teles, outfitted with this modern neck shape, some of which come in all new colors from the Ultra series.
Here we have the second Tele of this run - the '59 Telecaster Custom Ultra D in Texas Tea. The color was chosen due to Texas Tea being the most popular of the new colors that debuted with the American Ultra Series. We added the silver anodized pickguard and parchment binding to make it really stand out. We also chose the super popular Journeyman Relic package. With that, you get a look and feel that's worn in, but not worn out.
Many players love look but, it's all about playability found on modern necks, which is exactly why we spec'ed out this guitar like this. The Ultra Modern "D" is a slim, sleek neck that seems to encourage and promote fast playing, with easy bending. If you're in need of that sort of feel, this is it for you. If you're looking for more of a vintage, fat neck feel, this isn't the one. But for those that want a modern feel, this is perfect. Also, we chose to have the finish removed from the back of the neck, to give it a super broken in feel. 6105 frets and a 9.5" radius add to the easy playability.
Custom Shop Twisted Tele pickups give you classic Tele tone, with added output and a touch of Stratocaster sparkle. The neck pickup is designed for added brightness and glassiness, whereas the bridge pickup wiring provides warmer, vintage-style tones. Both have flush mount polepieces for even string response and Alnico 5 magnets for more enhanced dynamics. This is one of the most popular set of Tele pickups out there, and work for a wide variety of styles. Unplugged, this guitar resonates extremely well - and plugged in, it sings like no other. We think that we've hit a home run with this run of guitars.
We chose the "sort for lightweight" designation - it weighs in at just 7.2 lbs, making it easy to keep strapped on for hours.
It also includes a Custom Shop case, strap and Certificate of Authenticity. If you're looking for something classic looking but with the twist of a slim modern neck, this is it. Come to Club Fender at Truetone Music to try it out, or make it yours right here now!
