2014 Martin D-18 Golden Era
2014 Martin D-18 Golden Era
Initially produced by Martin between 1995 and 2016, the Golden Era D-18 was designed to replicate the tone, feel and craftsmanship of Martin's pre war flat tops, considered by most to be the best ever produced by the company. This 2014 model is inspired by a 1934 D-18, built to period correct specs to accurately capture the essence of a vintage acoustic guitar.
This guitar features an Adirondack Spruce top with a tight grain pattern, along with pre war period correct forwarded shifted scalloped Adirondack Spruce bracing, making this guitar particularly resonant and dynamically responsive. The finish uses a tinted gloss to age the look of the instrument and mirror the kind of lacquer tint found on vintage acoustics. The body is constructed from solid Mahogany back and sides, with hide glue used to join the pieces of wood, just as the original pre war models would have used. The Mahogany neck has a typically chunky tapered profile, based on a 1934 Martin D-18 from the Martin museum, giving a truly authentic vintage feel. Other features include a aged ivoroid saddle and nut, a vintage style celluloid pick guard, open back butterbean tuners and period correct fretboard markers and bridge style. This guitar also includes its original case.
This guitar is in excellent condition, with barely any signs of play wear to speak of. As with all our vintage instruments, this guitar has been given a thorough service & setup by the Vintage Instrument Workshop and is guaranteed for 3 years in line with our vintage instrument warranty.
