1997 Gibson Custom Shop 1954 Reissue Les Paul Custom
1997 Gibson Custom Shop 1954 Reissue Les Paul Custom
Initially introduced in 1954, the Gibson Les Paul Custom was the top of the line electric solid body guitar produced by Gibson, offered as a deluxe alternative to the revered Les Paul Standard model of the same period. Models manufactured between 1954 and 1957 have a lore all of their own, with a pickup pairing of a P90 in the bridge and an Alnico V 'staple' pickup in the neck position, making examples from this period particularly desirable.
This fantastic 1997 Gibson Custom Shop R4 1954 Reissue Les Paul Custom is based on a the first production year of these staple pickup Custom's, with '90s made reissues becoming relatively rare and sought after in their own right. This guitar features a Mahogany body and neck along with an Ebony fingerboard and the typical custom style block inlays and split diamond peghead logo. The Grover tuners and hardware are all gold, as was the standard for this model at the time, and the body is fitted with a set of custom wound pickups that perfectly recreate the unique tone of the P90, 'Staple' pairing of the originals.
This guitar is designed with vintage correct specs in mind, a clubby '54 profile neck, ABR-1 bridge and stop tailpiece, and VOS aged binding and other hardware. This guitar includes its Gibson hard case, and is pre-COA. This guitar is in very good condition, and is internally and externally original, with only the most mild signs of play wear, patina and some lacquer checking to the headstock.
As with all our vintage instruments, this guitar has been given a thorough service by the Vintage Instrument Workshop and is guaranteed for 3 years in line with our vintage instrument warranty.
