1996 Gretsch G6129T Starlight Sparkle
1996 Gretsch G6129T Starlight Sparkle
Gretsch have long been renowned for some of the finest and most distinctive electric guitars around, with both a classic '50s look and tone of their own. This 1996 Gretsch G6129T is one of the more rare and unique models from the years leading up to the companies Fender ownership. Although it is common to see Gretsch Jet models in a sparkle finish, a small run of pre-Fender models were made that showcased some of the classic Gretsch drum wrap finishes of the 1960's. This model is finished with the Starlight Sparkle drum wrap, a heavy flaked black and gold mix that is actually a plastic laminate rather than a sprayed finish. Examples of run this model are few and far between, with the Starlight Sparkle drum wrap finish being by far the rarest.
In terms of the spec of the guitar, this 1996 G6129T stays true to the look, feel and tone of these original Jet models. The Maple neck features a slim 'D' profile and vintage style hump block pearl inlays, with a horse shoe headstock inlay logo. The original ceramic Filter Tron pickups have been replaced with a Brian Setzer Signature TV Jones set, that retains the clarity and chime of a classic Gretsch pickup while adding a punchier low mid response that works excellently with an overdrive amp. Other than this, the guitar is in original condition and includes its original case.
