The so called 'Dan Smith' era of Fender came at the start of the 1980s, when Fender tried to revamp their core models in an effort to re-establish themselves in a market that was becoming dominated by guitar manufacturers from Japan. Dan Smith and Bill Schultz were hired from Yamaha to head up the operation, and the instruments from this period are now considered some of the best Fender guitars since their '50s and '60s golden era. This 1982 Fender Stratocaster perfectly illustrates the changes implemented to these core models by Dan Smith with a lean towards more vintage specs and traditional production processes, while incorporating some modern features. The Alder body is fitted with a set of vintage voiced single coil pickups. The neck is constructed from a highly figured piece of Maple, with a shallow 'V' shape profile that is extremely comfortable to play while retaining a vintage feel.  Other features include a top mounted jack input and modern six saddle bridge design.

This guitar is in very good condition, with some minor signs of play wear to the front and back of the body. All hardware and electronics are original, and the guitar also includes its original case and tremolo arm.

This guitar has been given a full service by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 3 year warranty.
