1973 Gretsch 7960 Super Chet
1973 Gretsch 7960 Super Chet
Introduced in 1972, the Gretsch Super Chet was the most deluxe model to bare the Chet Atkins name, and one of the more resplendent guitar Gretsch ever produced. Featuring a larger 17" wide and 2.5" deep body, this guitar is finished in a deep Autumn Red lacquer. The body is fitted with a pair of black top Filtertron Pickups, with the tone and volume controls mounted to the pickguard as was the standard for these models. The neck features a comfortable, fairly shallow profile, with a multi bound ebony fretboard with ornamental abalone inlay. The Super Chet model featured genuine gold plated hardware, with this example showing minimal amounts of fading on the trapeze and pickup surrounds.
This guitar is in excellent condition, with only very minor signs of play wear or lacquer checking to the finish. This guitar is internally and externally original, and includes its original Gretsch hard case.
This guitar has been given a full service by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 3 year warranty.
