Initially introduced in the 1956 as a deep body, single cut arch top, the Gibson ES-140T would go on to become one of the companies most unique student guitars from the late '50s to the late '60s. With a shorter 22 3/4 inch scale, the ES-140T combined easier playability with the typical Florentine cutaway, dogear P90 and vintage sunburst found on other classic Gibson arch tops of the period. This 1968 Gibson ES-140T is a wonderful example of the model from its last production year.

This ES-140T features the same woods and design specifications of other Gibson arch tops of the time, with a carved maple top and maple back and sides. This guitar sounds wonderful, with the traditional warm dog ear P90 woody tone when combined with the guitars hollow body design. The body is finished in a still very vibrant sunburst, with a single bound top, tortoise guard and trapeze tailpiece with original rosewood bridge.

This guitar is in very good condition and includes a period chipboard case. There is a very small amount of separation around the base of the neck heel on one side, although this is perfectly stable. It has been given a full service and appraisal by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 3 year warranty.
