1967 Gibson SG Junior
1967 Gibson SG Junior
This 1967 Gibson SG Junior is a great example of an affordable vintage Gibson guitar, with a stripped back design that has made them the go-to tone machine for a huge number of players over the years.
The SG Junior followed in the tradition of the Les Paul Junior that went before it, with a versatility that belies its simplicity. Since their introduction in 1954, these no frills, stripped back Junior models have been a go to for players of all different kinds, with a tone and playability that makes them far more versatile than their simple design would have you believe.
This guitar is in good cosmetic condition, with some nice lacquer checking and play wear to the original cherry finish. At some point, a Les Paul Junior decal has been added to the headstock. The neck is in good condition, and has benefitted from a re-fret that leaves it playing as it should. The profile is a chunky 'C' style shape, and retains the slightly narrower 41mm nut width found on Gibson guitars during the late '60s, making it particularly comfortable to play. The original P90 pickup is present and correct, as are the pots, although the wraparound tailpiece is a repro, and there are holes visible to the top from a previous vibrato. This guitar features the original large guard, soapbar pickup combination introduced in 1965. The Gibson Deluxe tuners appear to be non original, with a faint footprint of three-a-side open gear tuners being visible beneath. This guitar also includes a period chipboard case.
This guitar has been given a full service & appraisal by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 3 year warranty.
