The SG Junior followed in the tradition of the Les Paul Junior that went before it, with a versatility that belies its simplicity. Since their introduction in 1954, these no frills, stripped back Junior models have been a go to for players of all different kinds, with a tone and playability that makes them far more versatile than their simple design would have you believe. This 1967 Gibson SG Junior is a fantastic example from the later production period of the SG solid body guitars.

Constructed from a Mahogany body finished in Cherry, this guitar is in excellent condition with just the right amount of wear and patina to the finish. The guitar is lightweight and resonant, with the kind of airy, woody tone you would expect from a '60s SG. The neck is in excellent condition, and has benefitted from a re-fret that leaves it playing particularly well. The profile is a chunky 'C' style shape, with the narrower 41mm nut width found on late '60s Gibsons, making it particularly comfortable in the hand. The original P90 pickup is present and correct, with a wonderful clarity to the sound and plenty of growl through a cranked amp. This guitar features the soapbar pickup an large pickguard combination found on SG Juniors from 1965 onwards, after Gibson transitioned away from the dog ear P90 design.

This guitar is in very good condition, with the kind of lacquer checking and play wear you would expect to see from an instrument of this age. This finish is original with no overspray, and the guitar has had no structural repairs. The soapbar pickup is original  along with the rest of the electronics, with pots dating to the 15th week of 1967. The wiring and solder joints appear untouched. This guitar has been fitted with a repro vibrola, but could also be strung as a wraptail should you wish. The original three on a plate tuners have been replaced with individual three-a-side double line Kluson Deluxe vintage style repros. This guitar also includes a non original pink lined Gator case.

This guitar has been given a full service & appraisal by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 3 year warranty.
