The Gibson Melody Maker has always traditionally been the Gibson student instrument of choice, competing with the Musicmaster and Duo Sonic to be the first electric guitar of choice for budding players in the the 1950's and 60's. This 1967 Gibson Melody Maker is a great example of a mid '60s Melody Maker. In 1966, the body shape was changed from a symmetrical double cutaway design to the pointer SG style body shape that became the standard for Gibson solid bodies from the early part of the decade. This guitar features its original Pelham Blue finish, which has aged nicely over the years. The original single coil pickups sound great and give you a completely different sound to any other Gibson guitar available at the time, with a more chimey, bright tone.

This guitar is in very good condition, with all the kind of wear and patina you would expect from an instrument of this age, and a lacquer checking that really gives some vibe to the Pelham Blue finish. This guitar features its original single coil pickups and pots, although the bases and pickup screws and rubbers have been replaced. The tuners are also non original. As is common with these instrument, the original Maestro vibrato has been replaced with a wrap around tailpiece for added stability. As with all our vintage instrument, this guitar has been given a full service and set up by the Vintage Instrument Workshop and includes our 3 year warranty.
