Introduced in 1962, the Gibson Dove followed in the footsteps of the Hummingbird as another top of the range square shoulder dreadnought, also featuring an ornate engraved pick guard. This 1967 Gibson Dove is a fantastic example of a later period cherry sunburst model. The build of the Dove differs from that of the Hummingbird, featuring a Spruce top with cherry stained Maple back and sides, making for a brighter tone with plenty of clarity. This particular Dove has a beautifully figured quilted Maple back, with a depth of tone to match. The neck features the slimmer late '60s Gibson profile that is very comfortable to play without being too small.

This guitar features the adjustable tune-o-matic saddle and pearl inlaid bridge that was the standard for the Dove, along with other deluxe appointments like Grover tuners rather than waffle backs, split parallelogram pearl fingerboard inlays, and an engraved dove motif on the pick guard.

This guitar is in excellent condition for an instrument of its age, with with only minor signs on play wear to the top, back and neck, although the top has had some celluloid bleed in to the finish from the original pickguard. As with many of these pick guards, the original has deteriorated beyond repair over time, with this guitar being fitted with a reproduction Dove pick guard that pairs well with the condition of the guitar as a whole. Otherwise, this guitar is in all original condition and includes its original hard case.

This guitar has been given a full service by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 3 year warranty.
