1965 Gibson Trini Lopez
1965 Gibson Trini Lopez
Introduced in 1964, the Gibson Trini Lopez Standard archtop is by far one of the companies most recognisable signature guitars. As the popularity of Texan musician Trini Lopez grew in the early 1960's, Gibson were keen to add him to their endorsement roster, and designed the Trini Lopez Standard & Deluxe models, loosely based around Lopez's main guitar at that point - the Gibson Barney Kessel signature hollow body. Both models have gone on to be collectors items and pieces of Gibson hollow body history, being used by countless other musicians over the years. This 1965 Gibson Trini Lopez Standard is a fantastic example of the model from the first full production year.
This model from 1965 is in fantastic condition, featuring a still vibrant cherry red finish and the signature diamond shaped soundholes. The original electronics are preset and correct save for two replaced volume pots, with a sweet sounding pair of T Top pickups providing plenty of warmth and clarity. The original Kluson tuners, nylon saddle bridge and all other hardware are as they should be, including the original trapeze tailpiece with Trini Lopez wooden insert. The original pickguard features an etched floral motif. This guitar also includes its original case.
