1964 Gibson Dove
1964 Gibson Dove
Introduced in 1962, the Gibson Dove followed in the footsteps of the Hummingbird as another top of the range square shoulder dreadnought, also featuring an ornate engraved pick guard. This 1964 Gibson Dove is an excellent example of the model in wonderfully clean condition. The build of the Dove differs from that of the Hummingbird, featuring a Spruce top with cherry stained Maple back and sides, making for a brighter tone. The first Doves were also lighter braced than later '60s models, giving them a more open, resonant sound. This guitar features an adjustable tune-o-matic saddle mounted to the bridge as was standard for this model, with ornate appointments including pearl inlaid doves on the bridge corner, split parallelogram pearl fingerboard inlays, and an engraved dove motif on the pick guard.
This guitar is in excellent condition for an instrument of its age, with almost no signs of cosmetic wear to speak of. This guitar is in fantastic all original condition and includes its original hard case.
This guitar has been given a full service by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 3 year warranty.
