The Gibson ES-175 was introduced in 1949 as the companies mid level electric arch top, as a more affordable option to the high end L5 models, and remained the companies flagship deep body electric arch top for 70 years. This model from 1959 is one of the holy grails of Gibson jazz guitars, from the companies most revered electric guitar production period . Constructed from a carved Maple top with Maple back and sides, the ES-175 was the first Gibson model to feature the Florentine cutaway design. This guitar features all the specs associated with this period, with a chunky yet extremely playable 1959 neck carve, 'T' shaped tailpiece with zig zag sides and wire ABR-1 bridge. Of course, it is the pickups where this guitar really sets itself apart from the rest. The Patent Applied For humbuckers feature all the depth, clarity and grit you expect to hear, and transform a classic deep body arch top in to an extremely versatile guitar, easily capable of bluesy rock through the right tube amp. The fingerboard features split parallelogram inlays, and a headstock with the Gibson crown peg head inlay.

This guitar is in very good condition, with very minimal play wear for its age and no sign of finish touch up or overspray, retaining a rich, vibrant sunburst.  The PAF pickups are correct although the covers have been off at some point in the guitars life, with newer solder visible on the rear of the cover. The single ring tuning machines and bridge are correct for the period. This guitar also includes a period correct pink lined Lifton case.

This guitar has been given a full service by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 3 year warranty.
