1957 Gibson ES-225
1957 Gibson ES-225
The Gibson ES-225 was produced for a short time between 1956 & 1959, and was essentially a precursor to the ES-125 thinline cutaway models that would arrive in 1960. This 1957 Gibson ES-225 is a wonderful example of a single pickup model, from a real golden period for Gibson electric archtops. Featuring a maple top in Sunburst with Mahogany back and side along with a Mahogany neck with a Rosewood fingerboard, this guitar plays effortlessly and has a typical '57 style Gibson neck profile, that is full feeling but very playable. A single original Dog Ear P-90 in the middle position offers a unique tone compared to other Gibson models, with some of the warmth of a neck position P90, while cutting through a little bit more with some of the top end you would expect from the bridge position.
This guitar is in good condition, with signs of play wear and some patina and checking to the back of the body, neck and the headstock. All electronics are original, although the lower part of the original trapeze tailpiece that screws in to the body has been replaced. As with all our vintage instrument, this guitar has been given a full service and set up by the Vintage Instrument Workshop and includes our 3 year warranty. This guitar also includes a non original case.
