The Leedy company began making banjos in Chicago in the mid 1920's, and are renowned for their more deluxe and decorative models. This 1930 Leedy OlympianTenor Banjo is a wonderful example, featuring an abalone back that showcases the companies level of workmanship.
Constructed around a 28 bracket tone ring, this Leedy Olympian features a metal clad walnut ring with detailed abalone finishing. The ebony fretboard features ivoroid binding and mother of pearl fret markers, and the Olympian branded pearl headstock inlay. This banjo also includes a period hard shell case.
