Initially introduced in 1923, the Martin Tiple was a folk style take on a traditional South American instrument, pairing aspects of the mandolin, a 12 string guitar a ukulele or a Tahitian banjo. These instruments are particularly rare, with this 1927 Martin T-17 being in exceptional condition for an instrument of its age.

Constructed from a Mahogany top with Mahogany back and sides, this Martin Tiple shares the sort of specifications you would expect to see on the equivalent Style 17 Martin guitar. Featuring a 10 string design, the Tiple can be tuned in a variety of ways, but is most often tuned akin to a tenor ukulele, and is particularly at home playing Hawaiian slack-key style guitar.

This 1927 Martin T-17 Tiple is in good condition for an instrument of its age, showing plenty of play wear and patina to the finish. This instrument also includes the original case. This guitar has been given a full service & appraisal by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 3 year warranty.
